Famous People From El Salvador
The first famous people in El Salvador are not from this country. The first was ancestors from the government. Those people were mostly of Spanish descent. Then came the immigrants. Their children grew up in this country. Among these people are famous poets and singers. Some of them are mentioned below. You may not be familiar with some of them, but they have made El Salvador proud.
Alberto Masferrer
Alberto Masferrer was one of the most famous fictional characters in El Salvador. He was born in Alegria in 1868. He had no formal education, and his educational background was not extensive. He was passionate about travel and had learned many languages. He began writing at the age of 13 and was a well-known writer by the beginning of the 20th century. In 1928, he founded his newspaper Patria and was later the editor of several national and international publications. Later, he was El Salvador’s consul in Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile and Costa Rica.
Llort Choussy
Besides being a poet, Llort Choussy is also a famous Salvadoran artist. His style is colorful and often childlike, and he has been compared to Picasso and Joan Miro. His work is internationally recognized, and he was recently named the country’s Artist by the Foundation for Self Sufficiency in Central America. Currently, he teaches at a local school in La Palma, Chalatenango.
